About the Uganda Christian Medical Fellowship

A nationwide community of Christian medics — disciple-making, healing, and serving Uganda since 1989.

Our story

A fellowship born of prayer and conviction.

UCMF began in the late 1980s as a small group of Christian medical professionals praying together for the spiritual and physical healing of their nation. Today, the fellowship spans every medical school and major hospital in Uganda — bringing students, residents and consultants into one family.

We exist to support every Christian medic in living out their calling: practising medicine with excellence, walking with Christ daily, and reaching the lost and the hurting through deliberate ministry — in hospitals, in homes, and in the most remote corners of Uganda.

Our Mission

To unite, equip and disciple Christian medical and dental professionals and students in Uganda to live for Christ in healthcare and to reach the lost with the gospel.

A transformed healthcare community in Uganda — where every patient encounter, every classroom and every operating theatre echoes the love of Christ.

Our Motto

"No hands but yours, no feet but yours." — A prayer attributed to St. Teresa of Avila that reminds us we are the body of Christ to a hurting world.

Milestones along the way

Three and a half decades of God's faithfulness through Christian medics in Uganda.

1989

UCMF founded

A small group of Christian medical professionals begin meeting for prayer and Bible study in Kampala.

1999

First national conference

The fellowship hosts its first annual conference, drawing members from across the country.

Oct 2012

Students' Chapter launched

UCMF formally launches its student chapter across all Ugandan medical schools.

2018

Daily prayer meetings

Members begin meeting daily at 5:30am for nationwide intercession via Google Meet.

2025

13th students' conference

Over 400 students gather for three days of teaching and worship — a movement multiplying.

2026

ICMDA Jeju delegation

UCMF prepares to send a Uganda delegation to the ICMDA World Congress in Jeju, Korea.

Daily Prayer Meetings

Every weekday morning, members from across Uganda gather online to lift up our patients, our hospitals, our nation and one another. It is the engine room of the fellowship.

Medical Outreaches

Working with local churches, UCMF organises free-care medical camps in underserved communities across Uganda. We treat, we screen, we counsel, and we share the love of Christ.
