UCMF EXECUTIVE

The Uganda Christian Medical Fellowship is run by a group of Executive members (NEC) that is voted into office by the General Assembly during the AGM. UCMF also has Board of Directors that help advice, supervise and support the NEC

below is the profile of the UCMF NEC 2023-2024

Dr. Proscovia Mugaba Chairperson UCMF NEC
Mrs. Kasangaki @15879748714 Proscovia is a Pediatric and Fetal Cardiologist
She completed her undergraduate studies at Makerere university in 2003.
Proscovia accepted the LORD Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at the age of 5 years. She has been actively involved in the UCMF since her days as an undergraduate medical student. She previously served as UCMF Students’ Liaison (2006-2012) and as UCMF Treasurer (2017-2021). She is currently the General Secretary of the UCMF as well as Treasurer of the UCMF SACCO, and is a member of the UCMF Prayer Team and Students’ Mentorship Team.
Dr. Agasha Doreen Birungi – Vice Chairperson UCMF NEC
Is a wife, mother, daughter, sibling and a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Married to Dr. Birungi Mutahunga. We have had the opportunity of being parents biologically and in the faith for many little ones. I have served on the UCMF committee for a long time, since about 2015. Currently, I am the Vice chairperson.
One of the highlights of my service on the committee is a sermon that Dr. Ben K preached at one of the AGMs urging leaders to pray and ensure that prayer is a major cornerstone of their work. I kept praying that God would enable us as UCMF to come to that point where we pray together very regularly. So much has changed since the prayer altar began and I trust that God will sustain it forever. I beseech you brethren, as long as you can, please lets pray together. Our strength lies in there. I thank God for the far He has brought me and the fellowship I enjoy with you all.

Dr. Joseph Gavin Nyanzi General Secretary UCMF NEC

Gavin is currently a Project Coordinator under The Incident Management Team at the  Ministry of Health 
He together with a friend in 2021 founded Guardian Home Medical Care, a company whose major focus is Bedside & Home Care Nursing Services.
He previously completed Medical School with MBChB at Makerere University in 2009. He accepted the LORD Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour in 1998. He is married to Gladys Wanzala Nyanzi and they have 4 children between them. Gavin has been actively involved in the UCMF since his days as an undergraduate student at Makerere University where he served among many roles as Chairperson of his Medical School class fellowship (2004 – 2006).
He is currently the Assistant General Secretary of the UCMF and a member of our UCMF Mission’s team.
Dr. Isabel Mwangu Assistant General Secretary UCMF NEC

Dr Isabel Mwangu⁩ recently graduated from Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour on 19th February 2012.
While at campus, she served in many roles including as Chairperson of her University’s Christian Fellowship. 
She joined the UCMF Students’ Chapter during her second year of undergraduate studies and she has never looked back.  She keeps reminding herself that _”she did not choose UCMF but UCMF chose her and keeps choosing her again and again.”_
She is passionate about togetherness and community, people coming from different backgrounds but being able to speak the same language spiritually.  Since the beginning of April 2024, she has taken up the role of *Assistant General Secretary* of the UCMF National Executive Committee.
Dr. Isaac Ssinabulya – Treasurer of the UCMF NEC.
He is a Consultant Adult Cardiologist working at the Uganda Heart Institute and an honorary lecturer at Makerere University College of Health Sciences. Isaac got saved at the age of 9 years, and he testifies to God’s faithfulness through his favourite slogan: “ Mukama taswaza muntu amwesiga kubanga Mwesigwa “
Isaac is happily married to Dr. Joanita Nalyazi, also a member of UCMF, and they are blessed with three children. Isaac has held various Christian leadership roles. He led Scripture Union at Kibuli S.S; Christian Union at Nsibirwa Hall; Hospital Ministry (2003/2004) and was Chairperson (Papa) of his medical school class fellowship (2004-2005).
Dr. Clara Atieno Odhiambo – Prayer Secretary of the UCMF NEC.
Dr. Clara Atieno is a Surgical Oncologist working at St. Francis Hospital, Nsambya. She completed her MBChB at Gulu University in 2010. This was followed by an MMED Surgery and a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour in 2000 while in S.2. She’s been married to Dr. Atukunda Mucunguzi for 12 years now. God has blessed them with 2 girls and a son, aged 10, 6 & 4. One wants to be a chef, the other a shopkeeper and the boy is deciding but he is very fascinated by aeroplanes.

She currently serves as The Prayer Secretary on the UCMF National Executive Committee.
At work, she is passionate about creating Godly encounters with her patients. She makes them see that God is real and that He is working through her to deliver their healing.
At home, she’s passionate about tasty meals, she experiments on all types of recipes. Together with her husband, they create wonderful food moments and are both passionate about fostering family memories. It helps them connect with their children.
To her colleagues and mentees she always says, “a good doctor doesn’t just happen.” Good habits are cultivated. Being a good doctor or specialist is a culmination of decades of good habits.
Prof. David Mukunya – Assistant Prayer Secretary of the UCMF NEC.
Dr. David Mukunya serves as Assistant Prayer Secretary on the UCMF National Executive Committee.
He is an Associate Professor of Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology at Busitema University.
He completed his MBChB at Makerere University in 2013 followed by a Master in Global Health from UiB, and graduated with a PhD majoring in MCH Epidemiology at the same university in February 2020. He also has post graduate diploma in Project Planning and Management from the Uganda Management Institute.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour in 2003.
He is married to Josephine Mukunya and they have two beautiful children. Aizza loves her father dearly, and enjoys sleeping in his chest. Dawit is full of the holy ghost, and runs from morning to evening without getting tired.
He served as a Prayer Secretary during his 5th year at medical school.
He is passionate about empowering younger people.
He hosts a fellowship which has many young people at his home and its the highlight of his week. To help him empower them better, he is currently at Andrew Wommack Bible School (correspondence) and the John Maxwell School of Leadership.

Dr. Grace Ruth Kadondi – Welfare and Outreach UCMF NEC.
Dr. Kadondi grace Ruth⁩ is a Medical doctor working at Mulago National Referral Hospital. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord & Savior while in high school. She joined UCMF in 2006 as a student during a visit by a UCMF team led by Dr. Ricky to the Makerere Medical School fellowship at St. Luke Chapel.
She loves missionary work and has participated in many UCMF medical missions. She has enjoyed opportunities to participate in ICMDA conferences in Rwanda, Moshi and Arusha. She served as In-charge of Makerere Medical School fellowship library. She has a passion for children’s ministry, and was a Sunday school teacher at St.Luke chapel Mulago and she still sources for Bible study materials for children. 
A special child among many that she holds dearly in her heart is a little boy who was abandoned at birth in SCU Kawempe, nursed for 3 months till he found home in Watoto baby’s home.
Grace currently serves as a committee member of UCMF NEC, In-Charge of Welfare and Outreach Ministry
Dr. Conrad Ntaate- UCMF Marrieds Fellowship
Dr. Conrad is Family Physician, currently working at The Surgery, a private hospital in Kampala. He completed his medical degree at Makerere University and thereafter his Family Medicine training at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
Conrad accepted Jesus as personal LORD and Saviour in 1999. He is married to Dr. Catherine Senyimba , also a member of UCMF. They have 3 sons – Matthew, Joshua and Nathaniel. Conrad has been actively involved in the UCMF since his undergraduate days. As a graduate member, he was UCMF Chairperson(2004 to 2008) and UCMF Students’ Mentorship Coordinator (2008-2010). Since 2012, he has been a committee member of UCMF NEC in charge of UCMF Married’s Fellowship, a role he currently holds.
Dr. Catherine Senyimba Ntaate- UCMF Marrieds Fellowship
Dr. Catherine Senyimba Ntaate⁩ is a Public Health Specialist working at Mildmay Uganda as the Director for Programs. She completed her MBChB at Makerere University in 2003. This was followed by an MPH from Makerere School of Public Health.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 8 years.
She’s been married to Dr. Conrad Ntaate⁩ for 17 years now.
God has blessed them with 3 sons: Matthew, Joshua and Nathaniel aged 16,15 and 10 years.
She currently serves on the UCMF National Executive Committee together with her husband, Conrad as The Marrieds Ministry Leaders, a position they have served in since around 2010.
She is passionate about building strong and healthy marriages..
Dr. Benjamin Watyaba- UCMF Mentorship cordinator
Dr. Benjamin Watyaba serves as Mentorship Coordinator on the UCMF National Executive Committee.
He is a research fellow in the areas vaccines & infectious diseases at the Uganda Virus Research Institute.
He completed his MBChB from Makerere University in 2015 and a Masters of Advanced Studies in Vaccinology at University of Lausanne, Switzerland in 2020.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord & Saviour in 2010.
He has been married to Sarah Watyaba since 2018 and God has blessed them with a daughter who is 4 years old.
While at medical school, he served as the pioneer leader of the UCMF Undergraduates’ Chapter for two years. 
He is passionate about community transformation through holistic approach; John 10:10b life and life in abundance.  He is also passionate about education, mentorship and capacity building in all spheres of life.
Dr. Herbert Charles Bigogo- UCMF Students’ Liaison
Dr. Herbert Charles Bigogo graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Gulu University in 2022. He is currently doing his medical internship at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour in 2017 as a first year medical student at the UCMF Students Conference.
He previously served in the UCMF Undergraduates’ Chapter as institutional representative for Gulu University in 2018; then as Treasurer in 2019 and finally as the National Chairperson in 2020.
He is passionate about student ministry and missions
He is currently serving as The Students’ Liaison on the UCMF National Executive Committee.
Kiwumulo Joshua- UCMF- Students Chapter Chairperson
Joshua Kiwumulo is the current National Chairperson of the *UCMF Undergraduates’ Chapter.
Joshua is a fifth-year MBChB student at Gulu University.
Joshua accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour in 2006 at 8 years of age. 
He has served in UCMF National Executive Committee of the Undergraduates Chapter for three consecutive years.  In 2021/22, as the Prayer Secretary; in 2022/23 as Vice Chairperson; and currently as the Chairperson
He is passionate about winning souls for Jesus Christ, Church-planting, Discipling men into ministry, and Supporting the spiritual growth of fellow brethren.
Dr. Papa Ataro Ayella- ICMDA Regional Representative for East Africa and an Ex Officio member of the UCMF NEC
Dr. Papa Ataro Ayella is a Medical Doctor, Public Health Program Consultant, and a Sports Physician. Works as Assistant Director at State House Health Monitoring Unit. Got born again in February 2000, while in my second year at MUST. Has been married to Christine Ayella for 17 years, and together they are blessed with Joshua, Sophia, Karina and Neema, all missionaries and musicians like myself.
I served as UCMF Missions Coordinator (2016-2021). I have also been mentoring students into Missions and Worship Ministry where I am a lead vocalist & role Keyboardist. I led the UCMF worship team at the ICMDA World Congress in 2018 and 2023, and during many regional events.
Currently I am the ICMDA Regional Representative for East Africa since 2018 and an Ex Officio member of the UCMF NEC.
I love to inspire young professionals into Missions, Worship and Pastoral Ministry where I served in the past as Associate Missions Pastor, Assistant Pastor and Assemblies of God Missionary to the Unreached People’s Group 
Dr. Henry Sembatya- Vice Chairperson of the UCMF SACCO and an Ex-officio UCMF NEC
Henry is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.
He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Makerere University. He previously worked at Mengo hospital and was recently deployed to Kayunga Hospital. Along with his Christian colleagues, he co-founded Nikao Medical Center, a specialized medical facility located in Mpererwe. He is also an adjunct lecturer at Kampala International University.
His book on  Motherhood will soon be published.
Henry accepted Jesus Christ as personal LORD and Saviour in 2006. He is married to Dr. Rachel Kirabo, also a member of UCMF. As an undergraduate student, Henry, among many roles, served as Chairperson of the medical school fellowship. As a graduate, he served as Prayer Secretary of UCMF for a number of years.
Henry is currently an Ex-officio committee member of UCMF NEC, and is the Vice Chairperson of the UCMF SACCO.

Dr. Joyce Bossa aka JoyB – Team Lead for the UCMF office
Joy B is currently our Team Lead for the UCMF office where she plays a key role in coordinating our activities and connecting with our collaborators. She completed her undergraduate medical degree in Moscow State university in 1999, followed by a Masters in Epidemiology at Liverpool University. She is a consultant for USAID and UNHCR, majoring in Monitoring and Evaluation. Joy B accepted Jesus as personal LORD and Saviour at the age of 8. She is a missioner by calling and has served with Campus Crusade for Christ and The Navigators. She is a Country Director for Think 8:7 inspired by 2 Corinthians 8:7 ” But as you excel in everything, in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us, see that you also excel in this grace of giving .” Joy B has 6 adopted children who are all aspiring to be missioners.

UCMF BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Dr. Christine Biryabarema – Team Lead for the UCMF office
Senior Consultant Obstetrician /Gynaecologist and Associate Professor Obs /Gyn at King Ceasor University.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior in 1970. She’s married to Mr. Bazalel Mwesigwa. God has blessed them with 2 biological sons and many other children.
She has previously served as a UCMF General Secretary during the 1980s. She currently serves as the Chairperson of the UCMF Board of Directors
She’s very passionate about  gospel  music and loves singing.
She’s also passionate about her job as an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist.
Dr. Gabriel Okumu – Board Member
Dr Gabriel Okumu is a General and Gastrointestinal Surgeon with specialisation in Laparoscopic surgery.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in 1994. He is married to Mrs. Maureen Okumu and God has blessed them with three boys aged 17, 13 and 11 years.

He has been closely affiliated with the UCMF since 1998 when he was still a medical student.
He currently serves as a Director on the  UCMF Board
He is passionate about seeing peoples lives get better in all ways, spiritually, socially, financially, physically etc.
Dr. Phillipa Musoke – Board Member
Dr. Philippa Musoke is a specialist in Pediatrics & Infectious diseases. She’s also Professor of Pediatrics. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior in 1972 while in S.2 at Gayaza High School. She’s single (divorced)  and God has blessed her with 1 biological child – Jeremiah Muwanga (37 yrs) who lives in USA & got married in December 2022
While at medical school in 1976 to 1981 she was a member of UCMF leadership committe.
She currently serves as a Director on the UCMF Board.
She’s passionate about reaching out to children for Christ.
She’s also passionate about flowers.
